Our cleaning method begins with a warm mild cleaning solution PH
balanced for your rug, which will prevent shrinkage or permanent
damage to your rugs natural fibers and elements. Experience has
taught us that less moisture used during the cleaning process
renders better results. Salts and minerals present in water are
left behind after the drying process and will weaken the fibers of
the rug, dull its appearance and accelerate the re-soiling process.
Therefore, we dont rely on water pressure to remove the soiling
of the rug. Instead we perform a safe and effective agitation
method by using a specially designed forward-propelling bristle
brush to gently release soil and debris while applying a cleansing
foam that completely coats the fibers to free them from all
persistent soil particles. The contaminated foam is then extracted
leaving your rug thoroughly clean and looking vibrant.
Dry Foam Soil Extraction:
The results of a Health+Clean cleaning far surpass the results you can expect from any other cleaning. A small amount of water and cleaning solution is inserted into our cleaning machine, which generates, dry foam and applies it to the rug. A continuously forward-propelling dense-bristle brush follows the foam and pushes it to the base of the rug so that it covers the length of the fibers and then lifts the foam, now containing all the soil, sugar and oil left behind by common spills and use, back out where it is removed by the suction of the machine. When the sugars and oils are not completely removed, like in other cleaning methods, they will continue to attract soil allowing existing stains to return quickly. The foam is gentle on the rug but powerfully collects sugar, oil and soil in the fibers This low moisture method eliminates the need for your rug to be soaked, which causes the need for an extended drying period and leaves large amounts of chemical residue. The foam works on all levels of the rug removing the soil from the bottom up instead of forcing the topsoil down, which is stirred back to the top after a few weeks of normal wear.
We also dry clean or hand clean rugs as necessary.

Rug Cleaning Extended Information
We get very, very impressive results when we clean area, oriental,
custom and fine rugs including sisal, animal skins and other
difficult-to-clean rugs.
We have cleaned 1,000s of rugs in San Diego for over three decades.
In fact, rug cleaning is one of our oldest specialty services.
Weve cleaned every type of floor covering you can imagine with
excellent results and wed love to impress you by doing the same
to your prized rugs.
Our excellent rug cleaning features three result-producing elements:
1. We use a very warm, mild cleaning solution.
This is important because if harsh, high PH-containing (or overly
hot) cleaning solutions are used on rugs permanent damage can
result. Such poor quality cleaning jobs can remove natural wool
oils and even shrink rugs.
2. We use a low-moisture cleaning method
Experience has taught us that the less moisture we use to clean
rugs the better results we get. Water contains impurities such as
salts and minerals. The water will eventually evaporate, but the
impurities it contains will not. They will flatten the rugs
surface, weaken its fibers from the base, accelerate re-soiling
and most unwelcome, will dull its once bright colors. Simply put,
more moisture=more damage. Low-moisture rug cleaning is the best
way to go.
3. We use a very effective agitation process
Since we do not rely on water pressure to force soil out of rugs,
we use a very effective (and safe) agitation process to loosen and
displace soil.
By applying a soft, specially-designed revolving 150,000 count
bristle brush, we stimulate rug fibers to release debris from the
rugs surface and even below it. We deeply clean rugs which means
they stay clean longer. At the same time we agitate the rug fibers,
we inject our outstanding cleansing foam. [hyperlink] This foam
coats entire fibers even while its powerful contents free them
from sticky, persistent soil particles. After this 2-punch step, we
immediately extract the now-filthy foam leaving rugs truly clean.

How to care for your area rugs
Rotate To insure even wear, rotate your rugs once every 6-12
months.
Area rugs should be vacuumed regularly at least once a week.
Use a Anti-Slip Grip Place a specially designed underlay beneath
your area rugs to help them stay in place. This will cause them to
wear better.
Clean Spots Well If your rugs get a spot, blot up excess liquid
with a paper towel immediately. Take care to not set the stain. Use
your Tony's Best Way spot remover to clean a small portion of the
stain according to the instructions on the bottle. Use a hairdryer
to dry the cleaned area. If you succeed at removing the spot in
that area, proceed to clean the rest. If your effort is not
successful, call us for advice.

Because of the wonderful, adaptable cleaning solutions that we have developed, combined with our dry foam extraction method (see thorough explanation in our carpet cleaning website) we are able to produce safe and wonderful results. Colors on area rugs come back bright and fresh. I compare the results many times like when a bimbo flower is closed and then opened up and shows the bright, beautiful colors of the flower. We have very, very impressive results with most of the rugs.
Also, on oriental and custom area rugs (most of them wool) it is very important to entrust their cleaning to a highly trained, experienced and caring professional who wants to do the best, professional cleaning without shortcuts. And thats what we do.
We also can demonstrate very effectively the wonderful transformation of area rugs (before cleaning) by cleaning a small area of the rug. The difference is like magic!
Again, if harsh and improper chemicals are used (for example ones with a high PH), water temperatures that are too hot, etc, it can damage the rugs, take out the natural wool oils, too much water can shrink the rugs, etc.
If you hard that area rugs need to be washed with water, that applied 50-100 years ago, when most of the soiling was clean dirt. Today, much of the soiling is mixed with oily, commercial, atmospheric pollutants, which oxidizes the fabric. This type of soiling is very hard to remove. Washing with water, especially our hard water that is full of chemicals just wont do.
Here also applies that the less water we use, the better the results. Many of the things that apply to our carpet cleaning applies to rugs, except we need to use milder solutions (very important), and highly trained, specialized knowledge of rug cleaning. If the wrong cleaning solutions are used, the rug gibers can become brittle; can be damaged and even ruined. Usually the more expensive the rug, the more care it needs.
